Orders & Returns

When you have placed an order please make sure your basket shows the item/s and you WILL receive confirmation of the order if this does not happen please check your basket. Do not pay the order until I have added the postage shipping cost which will depend on the packed weight of the item/s and the destination. Please check your emails to make sure your order confirmation has not gone in your spam box. You can always ring me if you are in any doubts about your order or other matters. I accept payment on the site by card or bank transfer, If you prefer to do it over the phone direct with me or send a cheque that is fine too.

It is impossible to calculate shipping price on site. Once you place your order we will contact you to arrange shipping cost. You will be able to accept or decline the cost.

Once you place an item in your shopping bag it is held for 30 minutes.

Go through the check out process and let me know the way in which you would like to pay. I will receive the order and calculate the shipping cost.

I will let you know the cost of shipping ASAP. You can then pay by BACS, cheque or online. Overseas customers can pay by PayPal.

We accept: Cash (Sterling), UK bank Cheques, Credit Cards, Debit Cards, PayPal (4% additional charge).

We will dispatch all items on completion of payment as quickly as possible which will normally be the same or next day. All items are packed carefully using good quality acid free tissue and filler packing material.

All parcels are dispatched, fully insured next day delivery (UK Mainland), airmail insured rest of the world and this usually delivered in 5 to 7 working days.

We ship extensively across Europe to France, Holland, Germany, Spain, and Italy as well as further afield to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and America.

We use Royal Mail Special Delivery (next day) Insured for all UK mainland parcels above £100.

Costs for the UK are as follows:

100 grams to 500 grams – £8.00
501 grams to 999 grams – £9.00
1.00 kilo to 1.99 kilos – £12.00
Over 2 kilo and up to 10 kilo – £16.00 – This is a reduced price from £27 by Royal Mail early 2022

For all overseas parcels we use Royal Mail up to 2 kilos £27 and Parcel Force above 2 kilos £85.

Services are international signed for. Delivery 5-7 working days.

Prices can be quoted once item/s are packed and weighted.

A Note on Shipping

I use Royal Mail which is not the cheapest, but has been the best in my experience. The parcel is guaranteed by the next day within the UK and is fully insured. I’ve not had one go missing yet so I really like the system.

Returns Policy

My aim is to ensure that you are pleased with your purchase and it meets your expectations.

Your legal rights: When you buy goods from a business, in law you have a number of rights as a consumer. These include the right to claim a refund, replacement, repair and/or compensation where the goods are faulty or misdescribed.

My policy: In addition to your legal rights, Vintage Hornby Trains also allow you to return goods if you simply change your mind. Please return the unused goods to us with the original invoice within 14 days and I will offer you an exchange or a credit note, provided it is received back in the same condition.
