James Beeson – 0 Gauge 4-6-0 Loco & Tender LMS black ‘Royal Scot’ No. 6100, 3-rail electric – Lined black again the genius of Beeson shines through. This I believe to be a commercial item for one of the main retailer of the period such as Bassett lowke etc. An unusual choice with a Fowler tender in this wartime black finish (as far as I am aware ‘Royal Scot’ received its high sided stanier tender in 1937). The Locomotive and tender were found in terrible condition in 2012, thrown in a box with a number of other items, there was damage to the wheel and cylinder rods, various scratches/marks etc, after many weeks and months of pondering I asked Alan Brackenbrough to restore the Locomotive & tender back to its original condition and the result is here to see. The original Locomotive was built in 1927, rebuilt in 1950 with a tapered boiler. It was numbered 6100 in LMs days, renumbered 46100 on 01/01/1948 when transferred to British rail and withdrawn in 1962.
